CTI Weekly: Increasingly extreme extortion tactics leveraged by ransomware groups

Cybercriminals are using new tactics to extort victims for ransom, as seen in the cases of Maximum Industries and Lehigh Valley Health Network.

In one case, LockBit claimed to have 3,000 confidential schematics from Maximum Industries and threatened to auction them to SpaceX’s competitors if their ransom demands were unmet. In another case, the APLHV ransomware group released sensitive patient photographs from LVHN to extort the company after they refused to pay the ransom.
